The Supreme Judicial Court has approved the nomination of Grace V.B. Garcia to the Board of Bar Overseers Bar Counsel Search Committee. The BBO is the arm of the Judiciary entrusted with enforcing the state’s ethics and disciplinary rules for lawyers, and will be assisted in this important task by a committee formed by the SJC and chaired by Lisa C. Goodheart, Esq. and Denise I. Murphy, Esq. The position of Bar Counsel is critical to the success of the BBO’s mission. Grace is a partner with the law firm of Morrison Mahoney and is proud to serve with prominent members of the Massachusetts bar in finding the best qualified person to fill this important position.
About the Board of Bar Overseers
The BBO, established by the Court in 1974, serves as the independent body responsible for the registration and discipline of attorneys in Massachusetts. The BBO adjudicates complaints against the Commonwealth’s attorneys and takes disciplinary action as appropriate. Chief among its responsibilities, the BBO appoints, subject to the approval of the Court, the Bar Counsel (“BC”).
