BOSTON- Morrison Mahoney LLP, one of the region’s leading litigation firms, is the primary law firm sponsor of the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) Mock Trial Program. The Mock Trial Program is a competition that has been engaging thousands of students across the state since 1985. This year’s competition began in early January and will continue to progress until the ‘Final Trial’ takes place later this school year. This is the second year that Morrison Mahoney will be the primary law firm sponsor of the program.
The goal of the MBA Mock Trial Program is to help students learn more about the law, court procedures, and our legal system. The competition is an immersive experience, taking place in a simulated courtroom and using hypothetical cases prepared by the students. The judges and coaches are volunteer positions held by members of the MBA interested in guiding and sharing knowledge with students.
In addition to being the primary law firm sponsor, Morrison Mahoney attorneys volunteer as coaches and judges. “As trial attorneys, we know the value to high school students of participating in this competition. Whether the student wishes to become a lawyer, learn how to think critically and advocate a position in any setting, or simply become comfortable with public speaking, there is no better experience than the MBA Mock Trial Program. We are proud to play a role in supporting this far-reaching opportunity.” says Scott Burke, Managing Partner of Morrison Mahoney LLP.
Thousands of students at more than 125 schools across Massachusetts are participating, alongside over 100 lawyers serving as volunteers to this important program.
