Morrison Mahoney Associate Avana Anderson recently reelected as one of 9 directors to the board of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association.

For the past three years, Avana has been an active member of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, first serving as a member of the Programs and Professional Development Committee, and now serving as an At-Large Director and Chair of the Membership Development Committee. In this position, Avana focuses on making membership more accessible to those looking to join the association, and supporting members as they build brand recognition in the legal market and build their book of business. Avana is credited with creating the Referral Program to connect those seeking legal representation with member attorneys, which helps the community and also supports MBLA members as they build their client base. She also created the Dues Assistance Policy, which allows those who are unemployed or underemployed to join the organization and benefit from its programming and network.  Separate from the MBLA , Avana is also a member of the Anti-Defamation League’s Glass Leadership Institute, a pro bono attorney for the Women’s Bar Foundation’s Family Law Project, and an “Innbassador” for Pine Street Inn.
