Manchester, a mill town dating to 1722, is seated in Hillsborough County and is divided into eastern and western sections by the Merrimack River. It is the largest city in New Hampshire, the tenth largest city in New England, and the largest city in northern New England. Manchester is also the only city in New Hampshire with professional sports teams—the ECHL’s Manchester Monarchs and the two-time MiLB Eastern League champions, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Manchester is also home to numerous colleges and museums, including the Currier Museum of Arts.
