Boston Partner Brent Tingle with the assistance of Associate John Babcock obtained a defense verdict in a case involving the death of an individual from an aortic dissection. Our radiology client failed to identify findings suspicious for aortic dissection on a non-contrast CT scan. The following morning, a different radiologist picked up on the suspicious finding and ordered a CT scan with contrast. Brent presented evidence that the missed finding was very subtle and could easily have been missed by the average radiologist. We also pointed out that the miss was picked up on the following morning with sufficient time to transfer the patient.
