Morrison Mahoney partner Adam Mordecai secured a defense verdict in a motor vehicle personal injury case after a 2-day jury trial in the Hillsborough County Superior Court, Southern District.  The parties were involved in several unpleasant exchanges on the highway in traffic before a sideswipe collision occurred as they were both attempting to merge into an exit lane.  The parties told very different stories about how the accident occurred, and the plaintiff claimed that the collision caused a shoulder injury requiring thousands of dollars in past medical expenses.  He also claimed that he would likely require surgery in the not-too-distant future.  The defendant disputed liability and the alleged causal connection of the shoulder injury to the motor vehicle accident.  Both parties testified and presented medical experts.  After a relatively short deliberation, the jury found that the plaintiff had failed to sustain his burden of proving that the defendant was at fault and entered a defense verdict.
