Morrison Mahoney partners Douglas Price and Bridget Lopez recently obtained a favorable verdict after a four-day jury trial in Middlesex Superior Court.  The plaintiff in the case was a police officer responding to an emergency call in his cruiser when involved in an accident with our client.  The collision occurred at a blind intersection that our client was entering on a green light. There was evidence from multiple witnesses concerning whether the police officer stopped at the intersection, and whether and for how long he used his siren prior to.  Damages was also substantially contested at trial both on the nature of the plaintiff’s claimed injuries and his loss of earnings claim.

The jury found for the plaintiff, but assessed 50% comparative negligence, and returned a verdict well below pretrial settlement offers, and substantially below plaintiff’s last demand and verdict range which was suggested to the jury.
