Verdict 2014-18: Boston Partner Ted Murphy

Boston Partner Ted Murphy obtained trial victory before a federal administrative law judge based in San Francisco. The case, which was brought under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act, involved plaintiff’s work for two decades as a lead bonder with allegedly poor ventilation and inadequate respiratory protection. After a trial involving numerous co-workers and conflicting medical opinions on the causation issue, the court ruled that plaintiff’s cognitive deficit, renal dysfunction, and hypertension were not caused or worsened by his exposure to molten and other forms of lead.
