Boston Partner Ted Murphy obtained judgment for the firm’s client in a claim tried before a federal administrative law judge. The case, brought pursuant to the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act at 33 U.S.C. Sec. 901 et seq., involved plaintiff’s exposure to various chemicals, including TCE, at the shipyard where claimant worked for four decades. After a trial involving numerous medical experts, the court ruled that plaintiff’s bladder cancer was not caused in whole or in part by his exposure to these chemicals, but rather his remote smoking history.
