Morrison Mahoney Partner John Knight and Associate David Bastian obtained a defense verdict at a recent arbitration. The plaintiff claimed $30,000 in medical bills related to a minor car collision. The defense stipulated to liability but argued that the plaintiff’s claimed damages were grossly exaggerated. They focused on the minor nature of the collision and the plaintiff’s extensive medical history and argued that the accident did not cause the injuries that the plaintiff was claiming. The arbitrator concluded that “the plaintiff did not suffer personal injury” as a result of this accident and awarded no damages.
