Joe is a partner in the Worcester office of Morrison Mahoney and has 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer. He focuses on the defense of individuals, corporations, and insurers in the areas of products liability, transportation, construction/construction defect, premises liability, motor vehicle liability, and professional liability/legal malpractice. He also chairs the firm’s education law practice, which includes school law/special education law and higher education law.

A representative sample of Joe’s extensive experience includes defending a national transportation company in its transit and school bus accident cases; a religious organization in a variety of lawsuits against its churches and schools; a national facilities management and food service provider in an array of litigation from food borne illness to premises liability; and a national recreational vehicle manufacturer in snowmobile and ATV accidents. He has successfully defended numerous cases involving traumatic brain injuries, wrongful death, and spinal cord injuries.

Joe has served as first chair in more than one hundred civil jury trials and bench trials in state and federal courts, and arbitrations. He is a frequent speaker on defense related topics of interest to the insurance industry and parent  groups and school districts on special education/school law. He has also authored numerous insurance related articles and a chapter entitled “Defendant’s Response”, in the MCLE Publication, “Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Torts: Liability and Litigation.”
