John P. Knight

John P. Knight is a Partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney LLP.  Since 1995, Mr. Knight's practice has concentrated in the areas of general liability defense.  In that time, he has developed extensive trial experience by serving as lead counsel in over 30 civil jury trials, including many actions involving catastrophic injury and death.  The majority of his trials have resulted in defense verdicts or judgments significantly lower than any pre-trial settlement offer.

Mr. Knight has defended a wide range of individuals and business entities against various types of civil claims, including actions involving automobile torts, product liability, breach of warranty, premises liability, negligent security, breach of contract, construction accidents, consumer protection statute (chapter 93A) violations, insurance coverage and dram shop litigation.  He has developed an extensive practice in the recreational liability setting, where he has defended health clubs, skating rinks, gymnastics and cheerleading facilities, ski resorts and even the Boston Red Sox, as well as the transportation liability setting, as he has represented the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority and Amtrak.

When not defending claims, Mr. Knight assists clients in handling other legal disputes and in recommending/implementing measures designed to avoid them entirely.  He has delivered lectures at conferences and meetings, including those of the New England Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association  (NEHRSA) and the Ice Skating Institute (ISI), and he has written a number of articles concerning various issues presented by litigation in the recreational sports setting.

Mr. Knight is admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Hampshire.

Mr. Knight is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.A., Cum Laude) and Georgetown University Law Center (J.D.).
