Charles A. Cook is a Partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney LLP. Prior to joining the firm in 1997, Mr. Cook served as the Vice President and General Counsel of Colonial Gas Company.
Mr. Cook's practice is concentrated in all aspects of corporate law, both transactional and litigation. His transactional experience includes start-ups, debt and equity financings, SEC and Blue Sky compliance, leasing, licensing, intellectual property, and employment law.
Mr. Cook regularly counsels his corporate clients on matters such as corporate governance, director and officer liability and a myriad of business matters. Mr. Cook's litigation experience includes shareholder, employment, intellectual property, contract and employment disputes. He has tried cases to judgment before judges and juries in the state and federal courts, administrative tribunals and arbitrators.
Mr. Cook has represented sports federations and professional athletes before the United States Olympic Committee, the American Arbitration Association and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Lausanne, Switzerland). Most recently he prevailed in Beijing (August, 2008) in a dispute involving athletes from four countries concerning the award of an Olympic Gold Medal.
Mr. Cook is admitted to the bar for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court of Massachusetts, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Cook is a frequent speaker at various trade and professional associations. He has served as an International Judge at the Olympic Games (Athens, 2004) an Umpire at the America's Cup (2003 and 2007) and as the Principal Race Officer at the Olympic Games (China, 2008).
Mr. Cook is a graduate of the University of Connecticut (B.A.), Northeastern University (M.P.A.), and the New England School of Law (J.D., Magna Cum Laude).
