Douglas B. Otto is a Partner in the Boston office of Morrison Mahoney LLP. His areas of expertise include complex commercial, banking and business litigation relating to a variety of issues involving commercial finance, secured lending, workouts, venture capital, licensing, mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate and issues of lender liability involving private and commercial lenders. He has tried cases to both judge and jury, across numerous state and federal court jurisdictions. He has experience in having matters heard before various federal and state administrative agencies; and, he has successfully arbitrated matters arising out of private sector disputes. Mr. Otto leads the firm's bankruptcy practice group specializing in creditors' rights and representing creditors in the context of business reorganizations. Mr. Otto's creditor-side representation in contested matters is geared toward protecting secured claims and other priority interests.

In the course of his practice, Mr. Otto frequently acts as an outside general counsel, conferring on planning and business initiatives for small businesses and other start-up companies, especially in the technology-based industry. He regularly consults on matters involving corporate governance; employment policies; commercial drafting; financing; protecting intellectual property, including a wide variety of confidentiality issues affecting young companies.

Mr. Otto is admitted to the bar of the Supreme Judicial Court; United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts and the United States Court of Appeals, First Circuit.

Mr. Otto is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association; the Boston Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA).

Mr. Otto is a graduate of the University of Michigan (B.A., Economics, 1986) and New England School of Law (J.D., 1989).
